Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has placed a total lockdown in Bonny and Onne community in Eleme Local Government Area with effect from today, Sunday June 21, 2020. Governor Nyesom Wike in a state wide broadcast said the total lockdown is the check the spread of the coronavirus as the state records 127 new cases in one day. With this lockdown, residents in Bonny LGA and Onne community in Eleme LGA must remain in their homes. Those exempted from the total lockdown are prople on essential duties. The lockdown remains until further notice. Governor Nyesom Wike further stated that with a total of 886 confirmed cases in the state, the state is gradually becoming the epicenter for the virus in South-south region. He further warned residents of the state to be prepared for a statewide lockdown if new infections continue to rise.
