Nigeria placed as the 5th least peaceful country in Africa

The Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria and crime has been characterized as Nigeria’s Problem and the reason for being the 5th least peaceful country in Africa. According to the 2020 edition of the Global Peace Index(GPI), Nigeria was ranked in the 40th position out of 45 Sub Saharan countries and ranked 147th globally.

The countries that ranked lower than Nigeria are; Central African Republic in 41st position, Democratic Republic of Congo in 42nd position, Somalia in 43rd position and South Sudan in 44th position. Mauritius, Botswana, Ghana, Zambia, and Sierra Leone were placed as the most peaceful countries in Africa.
