POLICE ARREST TWO PERSONS IN CONNECTION WITH CULT CLASH IN PORT HARCOURT

Police Rivers State has arrested two persons in connection with Monday’s cult clash between two rival groups at the Amadi-Ama roundabouts axis of Port Harcourt. Recall that the Rivers State Police Command had denied knowledge of any death occurrence during the cult clash in the wake of the incident. News gathered from the incident states that one of the cult members was killed during their shoot out.

But the Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni had clarified that it was a Keke driver that was hit by a stray bullet. Then he said no arrest has been made but that investigation is on to revealing the cause of the supremacy battle between the two cult groups. Just yesterday the Spokesman of the Command, Nnamdi Omoni shortly after the two suspects were brought to the headquarters of the command supervised the parading of the two suspects.

He clarified that one of them who gave his name as Prince Effiong accepted belonging to a gang but the Keke driver arrested along with him denied being a member. The spokesman said efforts are still on to arrest the other fleeing members added that the outcome of the investigation that will show if the Keke driver is innocent. Omoni said one of them on sitting police on patrol at the Amadi-ama axis jumped down from his moving Keke and throw his pistol on the ground. He added that the other suspect is a Keke driver who has something to tell the police as such he will not be released.

The suspects that confessed belonging to a cult group has also promised to take the police to the family house of the suspect who took to his heels. He said Meanwhile one of the suspects Prince Effiong who accepted belonging to a gang narrated how the police arrested on Wednesday. He said he never participated the Monday’s cult clash. According to him, he was away to his home town in Akwa Ibom state to arrange his father’s burial. Reports state that the two suspects have since been remanded in the anti-cultism custody for further investigation. And that the Keke driver during interrogations never accepted that he is a member.
